Each of these 35mm darkroom prints reveals the reconstruction of the Voney Art Studio at Principia College in 2017. The purpose of capturing the studio’s year-long reconstruction in prints aims to inspire viewers to acknowledge their changing surroundings in this and other contexts. The prints were made in a traditional darkroom setting. Techniques such as dodging and burning were implemented to enhance the light and shadows in Voney prints. Capturing Voney with film was intentional, as both the building of this studio and implementation of photographic processes used to make these prints express a labor of love. The making of the studio and the prints required attention to details with emphasis on appreciation for process. My hope is that as Voney’s construction has ended, the studio will house a continual construction of thought in which students question and create in reaction to what changes around them.
